Joseph Loverti Banjos
Joseph Loverti Banjos
To be truthful, I’m not actually a banjo company – it’s only me and my passion for building traditional, old-time, Tack Head and Minstrel banjo’s, one-at-a-time in my small workshop.
It started with my love for the sound of old-time banjo. The first time I heard it – I knew it was for me. I knew that I had to learn how to play the music – I also knew that I had to learn how to build banjo’s that could make that early banjo sound.
It’s been rewarding to see my time and effort with building these vintage-styled banjos paying off in the pleasure of producing banjos that each have their very own unique sound and individual personality.
The banjos that I offer for sale will be a combination of materials and craftsmanship representative of the old-time style of banjo building that was seen prior to the 1900’s.
Some of you may know me as a builder of Split Bamboo Fly Fishing Rods – which I’ve been doing for over ten years. My experience with building split bamboo fly rods has taught me one important thing: Close attention to detail is key in building a great fishing rod. It’s natural that I’d apply that very same philosophy to the building of traditional banjos. Building a banjo is not unlike the building of a split bamboo fly rod, each is unique and each has style and personality like no other.
Please look around the web site to view examples of my banjos and listen to some sound clips – and be sure to see the detail photos of some of my recent banjos. If something interests you, or you have a question, please send me an email. I’ll do my best to answer you and get back to you right away.

Reproductions of early

civil war and historical
re-enactors who are
looking for the unique look
and authentic sound from
earlier times.

These vintage-styled
banjos are also sought by
musicians simply wanting
to make music in that
earlier, old-time style of
banjo playing before the
banjo got modernized as
many people know
of it today.
